Pakistani newspapers celebrate death of 25 Seal Team 6 members in copter crash

6 August, 2011

Pakistani newspapers celebrate the death of 25 Seal Team 6 members death in helicopter downing in Afghanistan claiming that all of them were part of the Seal team that killed Usama bin Lade.

A Pakistani newspaper with jamaat-e-Islami leaning has its first headline claiming that 25 out of 30 US Navy Seal members who took part in the Usama bin Laden operation are dead. They are rejoicing the death of the most dedicated and expert commandos in the world in a helicopter that was shot down by Taliban.

For them this seems a news to celebrate. And they are celebrating indeed. Though the news has been confirmed that the commandos who went down in the helicopter crash that was caused by enemy fire were Seal 6 team members, the same who took part in Osama bin Laden killing.

The report goes on to tell in details that out of the 31 commandos that were killed in the helicopter attack, 25 were those who were part of operation to kill Bin Laden in Abotabad.

Reports suggest that the commandos along with the 7 Afghan commandoes were traveling in a Chinook helicopter that was brought down by shoulder fired anti aircraft gun firing. This seems only the second time in the US when helicopter with marines onboard has been shot down by insurgents.

Less than an hour after the downing of the aircraft Taliban claimed the responsibility for the deadly strike. The helicopter went down in Saeedabad district of Vardak provice.

President Obama has condemned the attack and has shown his sympathy for the relatives of the commandoes killed in the helicopter attack.
